Wendy Haring is a fully qualified and insured teacher and has been practising yoga for 25 years and teaching for the past 20 years. She attained a Further and Adult Education Teacher’s Certificate (City and Guilds 730) in May 1987 and her RSA Assessor’s Award in September 1996. In May 1990 she obtained her British Wheel of Yoga Teachers’ Diploma (the British Wheel of Yoga is recognised by the Sports Council as the governing body for yoga in Great Britain). In July 1994 she was approved as a registered BWY Diploma Course Tutor and is also a Course Verifier. Wendy was the BWY County Representative for many years and Regional Training Officer. Then she was elected onto the Education Committee and served as National In-Service Training Officer until September, 1999 and then as the Foundation Course Officer till September 2005. She is currently serving on the BWY Education Committee as Diploma Course Tutor Training Officer as well as being the Accredited Groups Officer, responsible for the accreditation of other organisations’ teacher training courses wishing to be accredited by BWY. After studying with many well-known Iyengar Yoga teachers, she qualified to teach the Iyengar method in October 1997. Then she also became interested in the Viniyoga tradition of Yoga and completed their Stage One Course in March 1999 as well as a Vedic Chanting Course in Chennnai, October 2003, and the Women’s Healing Course in December 2005 . She now follows the teachings of Krishnamacharya. In August 1999 she became the resident tutor for Integrative Yoga Therapy (USA) and taught on their last course in the UK. She has a great interest in yoga therapy and has taught patients at the Lewis Manning Cancer Hospice, at St. Ann’s NHS Hospital in Poole, to M.S. groups, to Arthritis Care groups and to groups within the G.P. Referral Scheme at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth. She currently holds one-to-one yoga therapy classes at home. Her love of her chosen subject has inspired her to explore many other differing approaches to Yoga including Astanga, Sivananda, Integral and the Bihar School to widen and deepen her knowledge. In February, 2002 she began a new venture very dear to her heart, the opening of a purpose designed Yoga centre in Poole, The Poole Yoga Centre, offering classes for all, taught by fully qualified and trained teachers. See Poole Yoga Centre page for class details. We are very pleased to announce that Poole Yoga Centre is now a BWY Appointed Centre.
