About Wendy

Wendy Haring is a fully qualified and insured teacher and has been practising yoga for 45 years and teaching for the past 30 years.

She attained a Further and Adult Education Teacher’s Certificate (City and Guilds 730) in May 1987 and her RSA Assessor’s Award in September 1996.  In May 1990 she obtained her British Wheel of Yoga Teachers’ Diploma (the British Wheel of Yoga is recognised by the Sports Council as the governing body for yoga in Great Britain). In July 1994 she was approved as a registered BWY Diploma Course Tutor, She teaches BWY Foundation 1 & 2, Certificate and Deiploma courses, BWY Integration Courses, as well as running any workshops on Vedic Chant and the philosophy of yoga.

From 1999  Wendy held many voluntary posts within the BWY  until 2008 when she retired as Diploma Course Tutor Training Officer and Accredited Groups Officer, responsible for the accreditation of other organisations’ teacher training courses wishing to be accredited by BWY. In April 2019 she was elected at BWYT Education Chair.

After studying with many well-known Iyengar Yoga teachers, she qualified to teach as an Iyengar teacher in October 1997.  Then she also became interested in Krishnamacharya’s tradition of Yoga and went to study in Chennai on many courses from 2001 until today. In April 2009 she qualified as a KHYF (Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation) Vedic Chant teacher.  She now leads study tours to Chennai which include studying at KYM, as well as visiting many sites in S. In August 1999 she became the resident tutor for Integrative Yoga Therapy (USA) and taught on their last course in the UK.  She has a great interest in yoga therapy and has taught patients at the Lewis Manning Cancer Hospice, at St. Ann’s NHS Hospital in Poole, to M.S. groups, to Arthritis Care groups and to groups within the G.P. Referral Scheme at the Littledown Centre in Bournemouth.  She currently holds one-to-one yoga therapy classes at home (contact Wendy to book an appointment).

Her love of her chosen subject has inspired her to explore many other differing approaches to Yoga including Astanga Vinyasa, Sivananda, Integral, Scaravelli, Anusvara and the Bihar School to widen and deepen her knowledge.

From 1st June 2014 Wendy runs her classes (apart from courses) at her new home studio.
